Vol. Egg No. Nog

I was just thinking this month is like a downhill ski run, the days don't slow even for moguls, from decorating to mailing off Christmas presents and cards to making the house the ultimate of jolly to basking on the sofa at night in the dark and simply staring at the Christmas tree, all lights and colored-ball garlands, not to mention all the piles of presents stacked up.

Well, that was one super-long sentence.

If you're thinking you'll be alone this Christmas, hang that up Right This Instant. You will toddle on down to your church (it's time you got there) and meet people and attend all the activities, you'll make friends, I swear it.

During the summer all we do is complain about the hideous heat and how we're miserable, but now - wow - minus 7 degrees one of you reported out. And I wondered what hideous sins the folk in your area committed to deserve that kind of frigid wake-up call. And of course, in Canada, there's got to be untold mounds of ghastly sins to get these temperatures, like -34 degrees. Can you begin to imagine living in these temperatures even fifty years ago? One hundred years? It makes the mind shrivel to even think about it. What about, I wonder, fifty years in the future? Will there be a dome over cities so there's one standard temperature all year around? And the airports - will they still be - enough said.

Spend time with your family, friends both new and old, drink egg-nog or other happy Christmas spirits, smile tons and enjoy every moment. The rule: NO STRESS.
