August Newsletter 2022

Vol. Exer No. size

A smidgeon of an advert since my brain is fixated on it at this particular point in time – Reckoning, the 26th FBI thriller, is on the three big bestseller lists, thanks to all of you who bought a copy of the ebook or hardcover right out of the gate. Now it’s time to go chew on your neighbors and friends and co-workers -- if there’s overlap, you’ll be off the hook sooner.

Okay, on to August vacation stuff: We drove 3 ½ hours to Lake Tahoe (Tahoe means lake) so you’re actually saying Lake Lake.) Never before been there in the summer, only for skiing in the winter. Talk about gorgeous.

Well, we stopped first at Donner Lake where many of the Donner party met their waterloo, a tale I bet all of you know. One baby survived; Isabella was a year old, lived to be ninety, dying in 1935. Isn’t that amazing? And until about a decade ago, 400 plus Donner party descendants met in Truckee to celebrate (what exactly, I’m not sure). What’s cool about Donner Lake is all the trails, the absence of high-end or even middle-end resorts – it’s like a vacation place out of the 50s. Very laid back and tons of families.

Speaking of families, there were a gazillion at Tahoe but luckily the lake is so big (22 mi. long and 12 mi. wide) it never seemed so terribly crowded, particularly on the Nevada side. The funicular up Heavenly Mountain is a must, but be warned, if you look up count on your stomach doing a flip flop. The observation deck – it’s so surreal it makes you want to weep. Weeping aside, a great destination vacation.

Pro football begins in early September and we’ll have our yearly football pool on Facebook, so everyone get out your small notebook to keep track and watch the NFL channel or ESPN – get boned up on who are the major players. If you want to play, come join us at Facebook.com/catherinecoulterbooks. Of course after the Super Bowl, I’ll give out gifts to the winners. (Tempt you?)

I hope all of you who’ve already read Reckoning enjoyed it mightily. I hope it gave you a funicular ride. If you did flip flops over the book, email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com and give me all the deets.

Be grateful you’re not a kid and have to go back to school to a steaming classroom in mid-August. But I bet you parents are dancing a little jig.
