Welcome to Fall: And Football!!
Last night I'm sure you all witnessed the Steelers beat the Titans in O.T. in a hard and brutal game. Unfortunately Troy Palomalu got injured and will be out for three to six weeks, a huge loss for the Steelers.
I've finished writing WHIPLASH, the 14th FBI thriller. I think this is a wild one and hits close to home -- what with the recent revelation of the 2.3 billon dollar fine of Pfizer for their despicable civil and criminal behavior. As for the criminal part of the fine -- why, please tell me, don't the jerks responsible go to jail instead of just paying out the bucks? WHIPLASH involves German drug company, Schiffer Engel, who severely cuts the production of a critical cancer-related drug in chemotherapy. You'll meet Erin Pulaski, an Irish Polish American, who's a private investigator, hired to bust these bastards. But whoa, we have the murder of a big wig Schiffer Engel employee and the body is found on federal land. Enter Bowie Richards, the SAC of the New Haven Field Office with Savich and Sherlock to lend a hand. And wait, the P.I. has done a bit of breaking and entering not fifty yards from the body, and found proof to fry the drug company.
I'll be in New York next week to meet with my editor, publisher, and agent, see a couple of shows, and attend one of my favorite niece's wedding down in the Village. The reception is at Tavern on the Green, which, I hear, has gotten new management and a major facelift. I'm sure there will be time for a bit of shopping at Bendel's and Sak's. (Oh yeah, Mama's back in town!)
