Happy January:
This year is, quite simply, great. No more struggling with trying to remember to write two thousand and five or two thousand and eight or two thousand and nine, now it's easy -- you write 2 and think immediately TWENTY -- then you think of the Mayans and there's 2012 right in front of your face and then you subtract 2 and there you have it, all perfect -- twenty ten -- piece of cake. Also you'll find that twenty ten is very easy to type on the keyboard.
I'm up to my ears in my 6th medieval historical, The Valcourt Heiress, set in England in 1279. I'm within one hundred pages of the end and the characters still have no clue what's going to happen to them. I wrote a pivotal scene today between the heroine and her mother -- Helen of Meizerling -- she's a bona fide witch and you're not going to believe what happened.
Now, let's get to the important stuff. THE VIKINGS BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE COWBOYS!!! Favre was perfect, absolutely perfect. Now we'll see what happens when they play in the Dome in New Orleans.
As for the Jets vs. the Colts -- all the talking heads say the Jets have no chance against Peyton Manning, but you know the old saw -- any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday. I just hope the game will be exciting. If I were a Colt though, I'd still want to shoot the coach for preventing the team from their shot at making history -- a perfect 16-0 season -- and then how many more games on top of that?
By the way, I do wish Sanchez would shave.
Do you know, I didn't make any New Year's resolutions. Why? I think I slept through it. Hmmm, I'll have to give it some thought.
We're drowning here in northern California, a good thing since we need to fill up those reservoirs.
Have a great January -- Catherine Coulter
