Number 007 Vol. 228
Happy Halloween to everyone:
Can you believe it's the middle of October? Already? We can all rejoice: we have a beautiful Hunter's Moon, guacamole and chips, books and football. What more could you ask?
Mortitia and Gomez Adams, my Halloween action figures, are standing on a square black and orange Halloween table spread with big black pom-poms on the four sides. Behind them is a bowl of scary things topped with candy. So, we're ready for THE night. It is a very sad thing, but no one ever comes to our house on Halloween, the driveway is too steep, I guess, for the payoff -- boy, are they wrong.
Update on BACKFIRE: I think it's amazing how you can simply say, "Self, I want to finish the book by the end of the month and that means writing ten new pages every single day." Do you know what? That's exactly what I'm doing, ten new pages a day, and I'm close to finishing the book.
Have you ever had an epiphany so dazzling you could even walk past bowl of fresh salsa without noticing? A couple of weeks ago I hit a plot conundrum that stopped me cold. What to do? Then, suddenly, with no drinks or drugs, there was the sound of distant bongo drums coming ever closer and a disco ball of lights appeared whirling over my head and then there came this blinding flash. When the light went dark in front of me appeared shrub on fire. A deep voice came rapping from within the burning shrub, -- USE THE FORCE.
And then the burning shrub exploded into The Sound of Music and I knew, simply knew, what to do. Do you believe that? Okay then --
Now, moving right along to -- Football: I'm batting about 500 on my four picks each week on Facebook. If you want to join the competition, come over to my Facebook page and begin now. Who's going to win on Sunday: The San Francisco 49ers or the Detroit Lions? I'm torn betwixt and between. I mean I do live in the Bay Area and for the first time in over a decade the 49ers have finally shown signs of life, and they're ready to play again. 4-1 isn't bad. Yet here are the Detroit Lions with Matthew Stafford leaping and jumping around and completing insane passes and everyone on that team is SO happy and excited and they're 5-0, which hasn't happened in Detroit since 1858, or thereabouts. So, who is one to root for? How about you?
EVENT: On October 27th I'll be in Newport News, Virginia, at the Newport University's Ferguson Center for the Arts from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. If you're close by do (that is, if you're within two hundred miles) come by and meet me --
Happy Halloween,
Catherine
